Sitting at His Feet: A Beginning Rooted in Surrender

Sitting at His Feet: A Beginning Rooted in Surrender

Launching Maundy Thursday

There is something sacred about beginnings that are born not out of striving—but surrender.

On this Maundy Thursday, as we remember Jesus kneeling low to wash the feet of His disciples, I am quietly opening the doors to Sitting at His Feet Ministries—a space not built on performance, but on presence.

A space to slow down.
A space to listen.

A space to write.
A space to be held in grace.

Scripture tells us in Luke 10:39 that Mary “sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said.” While the world rushed and worried, she chose the better portion—stillness with Him. Not because she had everything figured out, but because she knew where her help came from.

This ministry was born in seasons where sitting still did not come naturally. In seasons marked by stretching, refining, and deep dependence on the Lord’s voice over every other noise. Seasons where answers didn’t come quickly—but His presence never left.

And so this space is being created for that same purpose:

To make room for Him.
To create space for grace.
To remind weary hearts that they don’t have to strive to be seen by God—they only need to come and sit.

Maundy Thursday reminds us that Jesus didn’t just call us to follow Him—He showed us how. Through humility. Through service. Through love poured out, even when it wasn’t deserved nor appreciated.

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” — John 13:14

This ministry will carry that same heartbeat:

  • To serve with humility

  • To create safe, grace-filled spaces

  • To speak truth with compassion

  • To walk alongside single mothers - regardless of her season (pregnancy, postpartum, full nest, empty nest), regardless of her age and regardless of the number of children- in both the beautiful and the hard of life.

It won’t be perfect. It won’t be polished. But it will be real.

Because the most transformative moments rarely happen on stages—they happen at His feet.

As we step into Good Friday and then Resurrection Sunday, we are reminded that surrender always precedes redemption. That what looks like an ending is often the beginning of something far greater.

And so today, I simply open my hands and say:

“Here, Lord. Build what You will.”

If you find yourself weary, searching, or simply needing a place to breathe—you are welcome here.

There is always room at His feet.

A Prayer for This Beginning

Lord,
Thank You for meeting me in the quiet places.
Thank You for reminding me that we don’t have to strive to earn what You freely give.

As this ministry begins, may it always reflect Your heart—
gentle, faithful, and full of grace.

Let it be a refuge for the weary,
a light for those searching,
and a reminder that You are always near.

Teach me to sit before I strive,
to listen before I lead,
and to trust You in every step.

I place this offering in Your hands.
Have Your way.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
